Birthday Fun with Custom Ink

The arrival of May always brings a flood of special occasions. May 1st is my boyfriend Corey's birthday, May 3rd was our first date two years ago [and also my friend Jenn's birthday], and then there's Cinco de Mayo! Each year those first few days feel like one continuous fiesta. This year, however, is even more exciting because Corey and I are traveling to Cancun for our friends' wedding... which so happens to be on, yes, Cinco de Mayo! How fun is that?! I'll be sure to share a recap of our trip in a few weeks, but today's post is all about Corey's birthday celebration.

If you've ever met him, or follow me on Instagram, you know that Corey is extremely outgoing. He's a jokester, the life of the party, and Mr. Social Chair. His friends have deemed him "The Mayor," because he's always talking to someone. He truly is the definition of an extrovert. And that is one of the many reasons why I love him.

Since his birthday falls so close to Cinco de Mayo, a fiesta theme is always the go-to for a party. Last year I threw him a surprise happy hour at Mission DuPont; one of our favorite spots for margaritas and tacos. It was a huge hit! I was definitely worried about how I could top it this year, ha!

For his birthday this year we will be in Mexico, so we decided to do brunch this past weekend with some of his closest friends. We booked a table at another favorite Mexican joint, El Centro Georgetown. They do bottomless food and beverages on the weekends for $39 which is a steal in this city!

I didn't want to just throw Corey a brunch. No! We had to take it up a notch. That's when Custom Ink reached out hoping to work with me on an upcoming event. I knew Corey's birthday brunch would be the perfect opportunity to showcase a custom designed t-shirt!

I'm sure you're familiar with Custom Ink; "the leader in custom apparel and accessories for groups, events, and special occasions." They're actually based right here just outside of DC; in Mosaic District to be exact. Below their headquarters is a showroom where you can meet one-on-one with a sales rep who will oversee the design of your custom items.

Whether you're looking for a t-shirt, sweatshirt, tumbler, or giveaway item, Custom Ink can brand just about anything your heart desires. You can choose from 1,000+ custom apparel or accessory options.

For our in-person meeting, we worked with Amanda. She asked us a series of questions to better understand what type of shirt and theme we were going for. She took some notes and then created a draft design to send over to their in-house graphics team. There, they would clean up the design a bit and add a photo of Corey to the shirt. We had to have him on there somewhere, ha!

After some back-and-forth on the design, we finally had a real winner. The graphic immediately caught my eye and I knew it would make for some great group photos in the shirts.

Custom Ink delivered the finished shirts straight to my doorstep, and we had them just in time to pass out to Corey's friends a few days before his brunch. That way everyone could come wearing them the day of. It made figuring out what to wear so easy!

While I ultimately loved the design and final product, it was the great customer service that would have me work with them again. Anytime I had a question or needed clarification on something, someone called or emailed me within minutes. Each representative I spoke with was friendly and helpful. We had one small issue with a shirt not making it in the shipment. I got a call immediately from a customer service rep, who rush ordered the missing shirt, and had it on my doorstep the next day. They even gave me a gift card to use on a future order because of the problem. Honestly, I was blown away at their attention to detail and quick responses to everything.

I cannot recommend working with Custom Ink enough for your upcoming party, work event, or bachelorette party. They're so easy to work with for group orders; you could even use them for work events or conferences. If you'd like to learn more about the products they offer, you can find a full lineup here, and be sure to sign-up for your in-store consultation, here. They have multiple locations across the south and northeast. If you don't live near a design lab, you can easily create your custom items online and work with a designer that way. It's so easy!

Thanks again Custom Ink for making Corey's birthday brunch even more special with your custom t-shirts!!!
