A Weekend In Wine Country







Over the weekend myself and good friends Laura and Jenn headed out to Virginia Wine Country (think 200+ wineries in one region) to stay with our good friend Lauren who lives out there. Lauren hosted us for a mini girls getaway. I say mini, because in all actuality we were only there for less than 30 hours. But, we fit a lot in in that short amount of time.

We started our weekend off at The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards. It was a 100+ year old barn converted into a wine house and venue. We did a tasting, and then purchased a charcuterie platter and bottle of wine to share. Next we headed to Bluemont Vineyard; my favorite winery. It was really nice to be back, because Bluemont has the most picturesque views of the countryside. We did another tasting flight, served in an old milk jug carrier. And of course ordered a few more bottles of wine, flatbreads and cheese platters. Does it get much better than that?! I don't think so! We then went back to Lauren's house to change, and head out to Leesburg for dinner at King Street Oyster Bar. They had bacon wrapped oysters with a balsamic glaze. Y'all, I mean come on, ha! I'm going on a serious diet this week.

Sunday we spent the morning picking apples (outfit post and recap coming later this week) and shopping the local homemade goodies at Great Country Farms. I picked up the BEST apple cider doughnuts and homemade preserves. I can't wait to recreate Bluemont's fig preserve flatbread with goat cheese and arugula. Recipe is definitely coming to the blog soon! We then finished the trip with lunch at Lightfoot Restaurant (what used to be an old bank) in downtown Leesburg.

It was the perfect weekend to spend a little time out of the city, hit pause and refresh, with some of my best friends. Thanks Lauren for hosting us!! Hopefully we can get back out that way in October to visit the pumpkin patch and sit by the bonfire, sipping wine and roasting s'mores. Okay, that sounds amazing doesn't it?!
