Favorite Beauty Products

I don't usually do a lot of beauty posts, but thought it would be nice to share some of the products I've loved using. The products I'm featuring today are items + brands that I've used for years (or months). I wanted to authentically share products I truly love and enjoy using, so every item you see... I use on a daily or weekly basis!

If you have recommendations on other products I should try, let me know in the comments below!

Favorite Skin Products (body): I have to be honest, I am the worst at taking care of my skin. I neglected my skin for years and exposed it to harsh chlorine during my many years of swimming.

Lately though I have gotten much better at moisturizing and trying my best to repair the years of neglect. Two things that have really helped with that repair are St. Ives lotions and body scrubs. I've used St. Ives for years, and most recently tried their spray on lotion. Fantastic! I also started using their new Oatmeal and Shea Butter lotion. It is very smooth and creamy, but doesn't leave that sticky feeling like a lot of lotions do. I keep it on my nightstand and put on my hands, arms and legs before bed.

I also have tried a few variations of their body scrub, but am really loving their new oatmeal scrub. I use it with a body poof and keep in the shower. I mix it with another body wash and alternate throughout the week!

Favorite Skin Products (face): Just like the skin on my body, I neglected taking care of the skin on my face for years. Combined with the many days spent in the pool, I also was very naughty and went to the tanning bed. Don't do it people! Spray tans or tinted lotions all the way!!

Any who, I now have gotten much better over the past year or so.

After washing my face, I use a combination of products. I was recently introduced to this Phyto Corrective Gel from Hela Spa in Georgetown. This stuff is a MIRACLE worker y'all. I have a huge problem with my skin turning red and blotchy after washing it. So I apply a few drops of this oil to my face, and within minutes the redness is gone. This bottle can be pretty expensive, so I use it mainly in the morning before applying makeup. Helps me use less foundation/concealer in the red areas.

Throughout the week I alternate between the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer for sensitive skin or Jergen's Natural Glow for my face. I use the Neutrogena at night and in the mornings. But use the Jergen's once a week to help add a nice bronze glow to my skin. It also has sunscreen in it which is great!

Every night I finish off with the best eye cream I've found. It's the m-61 Hydraboost from Bluemercury. I was given this eye cream to try this past summer, and instantly was hooked. If I go a night or two without using it, I can definitely tell the difference. It helps hydrate your eyes, and protects you from bags and dark under eye circles.

The last thing I do before bed is apply a coat of Vaseline Lip Therapy to my lips!

Favorite Hair Products: Okay, let's chat hair. Y'all know how precious my hair is to me, so I rarely put anything on it that I haven't tried before or consulted with my stylist.

If you don't know (or can't tell), I do have color-treated hair. I've been getting blonde highlights for years, so I am always hesitant to try things that could damage the color. So I always buy products that specifically state "for color-treated hair."

I honestly have the thickest head of hair. Seriously. My stylist says it's the thickest he deals with. To make matters worse, it's extremely long. Sorry Kenny (my stylist)!!

So for years I've searched for a brush that detangles and won't pull my hair. That's when Kenny introduced me to this $12 gem. The Wet Brush-Pro glides seamlessly through my thick hair. I'm not kidding y'all. It was the best hair purchase I have made recently!! I use it for wet and dry hair, but it saves so much time post shower.

I've also been using this hairspray for years and can't say enough good things about it. The Aussie Instant Freeze has truly held my hair up in cold, heat, wind and humidity. It also doesn't cake to my hair, making for thick strands. You can look closely, and it'd be hard to tell there was even anything in my hair. It's THAT good. Get it, buy it, love it. It's a true gem of a find!

I also love the Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo products + the Living Proof Humidity Shield. Granted I haven't tried the Living Proof spray yet in the dead heat of summer, so I can't attest too much on the miracleness of it, but I've used it for two months now and love it. Smells great and many of my fellow bloggers swear by it! I just spray it directly on top of my hairspray.

Favorite Face Products: I'm more willing to try new products when it comes to my nails, makeup and beauty masks. For my hair and body, I usually stick to what I know.

Foundation // during the week I usually use the Covergirl 3-in-1 to save money. It's light enough that I don't feel like I'm wearing a caked on mess at work, but heavy enough to cover the blemishes. For the weekends, events or for blog photos, I love the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint + sunscreen. It is the closest thing I've found to that "air brushed look" and a little goes a long way.

Concealer // I have tried it all. You name, probably tested it. I feel like I have perminately stained dark under eye circles. So I've tried to find something that truly works. I have been giving this Nars Concealer a try for the past few weeks and really like it. It's thinner than most concealers, but I think it works well. I am still a fan too of the IT Cosmetics under eye concealer.

I have also been using the Glam Glow mud mask for a few months now and love it. Feels like concrete on your face, ha, but it works wonders! I always notice a difference after use. My favorite Nars Lip Pencil in Golshan is perfect for adding a pop of color to my neutral makeup pallet. It's the one color that I truly like wearing.

I also was introduced to this amazing eye brush from IT Cosmetics. I use the heavier end for applying eye shadow, and use the straighter end for dabbing the darker shade of my eye shadow as an eye liner. Yep, I use the darker black eye shadow color as my eye liner instead of a pencil or wing ink.

I can't say enough good things about the Essie Gel Topcoat. I've used it for several months and it extends the life of my polish really well. Before I used a basic topcoat that lasted probably 4-5 days. But the Essie Gel Topcoat has extended my polish to almost a week and a half without chipping. So great and so much cheaper (and better for your nails) than the actual gel service.
