"Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future... this is known as Fashion Week." - the great Carrie Bradshaw
Okay, so it's probably kind of cheesy and cliche, but when my three dear friends and I decided that we were going to make the trip up to New York City for Fashion Week, we just knew we had to do a Sex and the City reference type photo shoot. I mean come on. How can we not?!
Y'all... it has been SO hard to contain my excitement for today's post.
I've alluded, well more like mentioned, to y'all that I'd be heading up to New York City for Fashion Week. This is what dreams are made of. I mean pinch me! I still can't believe that I'm actually packing up a suitcase (more like three) and boarding a train to NYC this time next week. It still hasn't hit me.
From an early age, all the way up to last year's Fashion Week recap post, I have dreamed of walking the big city sidewalks alongside fashion's biggest moguls.
Okay, let me not get too far ahead of myself here. Yes I'll be in New York for the biggest week of fashion, but I will in fact not be walking alongside celebrities. Hashtag, goals. I will however be soaking in four days of the unexpected. That's simply how everyone has described their first fashion week to me. You head to the city with all these ideas, plans and goals and leave with hardly any of those accomplished. Yet, what you're leaving with are memories that are SO MUCH better than you could have ever imagined.
So how did all of this come to be?
Back in November I was joking around with my bestie Jenn about how cool it would be to take a weekend trip to New York City during fashion week. We both just laughed and talked about how that was a dream of ours, but the conversation didn't really go further than that. After a few weeks went by, we started chatting about fashion week with our other two friends Lauren and Laura. The four of us were at an event and finally one of them goes, "why not? Why can't we just go?" I can't remember who said it, but I've never been more excited that someone did!
The following week we met up for brunch in Georgetown, chatted more about the idea and booked our hotel right then and there. A few days later, train tickets were acquired!
Yes, all of us are still VERY new to the blogging and fashion world, but who says you have to wait to chase your dreams? No one. We're making them happen!

Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some "pre" fashion week posts. I'm going to talk about what I'm packing with me, what we'll all be doing while we're there, sharing which shows and presentations we'll be going to, and how YOU can follow along throughout the entire journey. So stay tuned for all the fun. You won't want to miss ANY of it!!
