Fashion Forward

Nordstrom Gingham Top // LOFT Eyelet Skirt (old, similar) (recently seen here, here and here)

Over the past few years I've really opened myself up to trying new things when it comes to fashion. I would have never opened myself up to trying leather pants, mixing bolder pieces with preppy pieces, or mixing patterns. I never really thought about giving these trends a try, till I started blogging. Since then, I've really branched out to trying some of the more fashion forward trends. While there are a few that I'll never touch with a ten foot pole (looking at you ear cuffs), most I am happy to try at least once.

One such trend that I've tried, and really like, is pattern mixing. While it's not the most ideal thing for work, it's something I can do on the weekends or vacation.

I've had this gingham top for awhile, and y'all know how much I love this eyelet skirt. So I decided to try something different and pair the two together. I added a pop of color with the necklace and added a few neutral accessories to tie it all together. I think it worked out quite nicely, and I received a lot of compliments at the Southern Blog Society Conference.

What do y'all think? Are you a fan of mixing patterns?

Also, how adorable is this coordinates bracelet? It's from KnoxThomasDesigns and is the coordinates of my hometown of Knoxville, TN. Now, i'll always have a little piece of home with me. I haven't stopped wearing it since Truly (the owner) sent it to me. She is super sweet and hand makes every single bracelet. I definitely will be ordering a few of these for gifts this Christmas!! In the meantime, I know all my fellow VOL fans need this bracelet for football season. I even had her engrave "Rocky Top" on the inside of the bracelet. It's just perfect for football season, so be sure to snag yours asap!!
