We've talked a little about spring trends on the blog lately, but one of my favorites for this season is the windowpane print. This trend already made it's debut throughout this past fall and winter, however, it's a trend that is carrying over well into the warming months. Some of my favorite brands have picked up on the trend, and I'm sharing a few of my favorite pieces with y'all today. Why? Cause you all LOVED yesterday's post where I wore this gorgeous LOFT blouse. Now, you too can wear the trend this spring!

Over the Weekend, Last Bit of Winter

Hopefully this is my last "winter-y" type outfit for the year. According to the calendar, it's officially spring. However, Mother Nature clearly hasn't gotten the memo because this past weekend we enjoyed slightly above freezing temps and blistery winds. I pray that this was the last bit of winter.

Over the weekend I had a ton of errands to get caught up on, post TOTS. Everything from getting the essentials (and non-essentials) at Target, to cleaning the apartment and switching my closet over to spring. It was an extremely boring, yet productive weekend. As for my errand outfit of the day, I wanted to be comfortable and casual. Denim and chucks are usually my go-to for running around town. I threw on one of my fave new tops, and a warm, yet spring-esk jacket. I had already jumped the gun and stored my winter coats for the year, so I needed some outerwear that would keep me warm, yet didn't look like my wardrobe was following mother nature's winter-y lead. I love this CoffeeShop hooded jacket because it's super lightweight and felt almost like I was wearing a blanket. I was warm and comfortable all day.

Fashion Night Out at Bloomingdale's

Last night I knocked another item off my bucket list, and that was to help style my first fashion show! I was extremely excited and honored to be selected by the Junior League of Washington, D.C. to help style their spring fashion show at Bloomingdale's!

I had the pleasure of working with the Junior League's secretary, Ms. Catherine. She was such a joy to work with, and regardless of age we realized that we had very similar tastes in style. So it was the perfect match!

For my two looks in the show, I wanted to focus on showcasing a few spring trends while maintaining the easy and feminine vibes that I usually go for with my own style. I always search for statement pieces, that are versatile and good investments. Meaning, I look for pieces that could work for more than one season and items that can be mixed and matched with things I already own. Especially if I'm going to splurge for a high end brand I want to make sure the item is very versatile.

Look # 1

When I first walked into Bloomingdale's, this gorgeous Tory Burch dress caught my eye immediately.

Not only is it on trend with the fringe, but it is the perfect transition dress for the current weather. The fabric is heavier, so the dress will work well in the early spring and well into fall. The dress can stand alone or be paired with a cardigan or blazer for the office. I think it's the perfect dress for a bridal shower, luncheon or a more casual office environment. I paired this dress with another versatile piece. A Kate Spade NY bag, that's perfect for work. Since Catherine is petite, I didn't want an oversized tote for her. If you're petite, try going with a smaller purse or clutch.

Look # 2

When I think of a classic brand, for any age, my instincts go directly to DVF. I mean the brand is timeless and I feel like she can do no wrong. The spring DVF collection definitely doesn't disappoint. One of my favorite pieces was this gingham peplum top.

I could see this top being paired countless ways and being worn by all ages. For spring I paired this top with a classic black trouser and black heels for an office appropriate look. I added color with this gorgeous Kate Spade NY scalloped clutch and necklace. The colors were identical and really popped off the gingham.

I had an absolute blast picking these two looks for last night's show. Loving some of these pieces as well? You're in luck! Bloomingdale's is having their Friends & Family sale going on now, through this Sunday. Get 25% off pretty much anything in the store, including most of the pieces featured here! These truly are versatile and great investment pieces. Let me know how you style them!

Regularly Scheduled Program

Whheeewww. Is really all I have to say after the past few weeks. My head is finally coming back above water and I'm starting to be able to breath again. This was my first year being in charge of a portion of the Taste of the South Charity Gala. Y'all are probably sick of me talking about this event, but it really has consumed a majority of my time over the past few weeks/months. There will be one last update coming soon, with the majority of the post featuring photos from this year's gala. I hope to have that to share with y'all next week!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program... blogging.

In between all of my gala prep, I did find a little time to prepare some fun collaborations, giveaways and pickup some fabulous new outfits to share with y'all as well. To give you a little update on what's to come, here are a few sneak peeks...

Bloomingdale's Fashion Night Out with the Junior League of Washington, D.C.
  • I'm really excited and super honored to have been chosen as one of five bloggers to style this year's Fashion Night Out, hosted annually by the Junior League of Washington, D.C. and Bloomingdale's. I chose two outfits that really scream SPRING to me, to feature in tomorrow night's show. I focused on easy and feminine looks that encompass spring trends such as fringe, block heels, gingham and one of my favorites, the scalloped edge. I'll be sharing the looks tomorrow night on Instagram, so be sure you're following along!

A Week of Healthy with Alissa from Feeling Good Style
  • Last year I partnered up with Megan from Simple.Savvy.Self to share with y'all a week of healthy posts. Y'all loved it so much, that I'm partnering up with another blogger friend, Alissa, to bring you another week of tips for getting in shape. More to come, soon!

PopNod Stylemakers With a Cause Campaign
  • Another exciting collaboration will be happening next month with the brand new app and business, PopNod. Featuring 10 DC bloggers, the campaign will allow followers of each blogger to purchase pieces from a series of outfit posts. A portion of the sales will be donated to the charity of choice for each blogger. Mine is Team Red, White & Blue. I love our Veterans and am so thankful for their service and sacrifice. Team RW&B is an excellent program that helps "connect vets with their community both physically and socially." Campaign kicks off the 1st of April!

Career 101 Series
  • When I first started blogging I wanted to focus on life right out of college. Feature posts about entering the real world, how to land that dream first job, dress for the professional world, etc. While the blog ultimately took another turn, I hope to bring some of my insight back for a little mini-series this April, just in time for graduation and summer internship preparation.

Southern Blog Society Conference
  • So I know June is still very far off in the future, but I am SOOO excited about being selected to attend this year's Southern Blog Society Conference in Charleston, South Carolina!! The Southern Blog Society is made up of a great group of bloggers from all across the southeast. There's also a Southwest Society and other regions coming soon. I cannot wait to spend a long weekend in Charleston meeting some of my favorite bloggers, brands and seeing the sights. I've only been to Charleston once, and for less than 24 hours. So it'll be a fun weekend that I cannot wait to share with you all as well!!

Hair Tutorial - doesn't need much of an explanation, but I assure you that one is coming soon!!

This is just a little taste of what's to come on Primp & Proper!! There's a little bit of something for everyone I feel like coming up, so make sure you follow along and stay tuned! Am I missing something you're just dying to see on here or want to know about me?! Let me know! Email me or leave in the comments below!! XoXo

Thursday's 10 Thoughts - Vol. 10

Y'all have probably thought I've fallen off the face of the Earth or given up on blogging lately. I assure you that A. I am still alive and kickin, and B. no giving up here! As I mentioned before, this month is the busiest one out of the year for me. I've been gearing up for Taste of the South, a charity gala which is this Saturday y'all (make sure you follow me on Insta for behind the scenes photos), so my attention and focus has pretty much been on that over the past few weeks. For today's Thursday's 10 Thoughts post I decided to give y'all a little insight into what Taste of the South is all about, by featuring several photos from last year's event (photos via Revamp/Daniel Swartz).

There are still lots of last minute details to prepare the rest of this week, celebrate this weekend and then the plan is to crash on Monday. I apologize that blogging has taken a little back seat recently, BUT I assure you I'll be back with the regularly scheduled program middle of next week. Lots of fun posts and giveaways coming your way!!

Speaking of giveaways... there's one going on RIGHT NOW over on my Instagram. I've teamed up with a great group of bloggers to give one lucky reader a $250 Kate Spade gift card. So head over now to enter!!!!

Now on to my thoughts for the week...

A wise person once told me... write everything down. That's why I'm probably the last person on this planet who still uses a paper planner, but it's necessary. Especially since life has been crazy the past few weeks. I cannot recommend this gem enough. It's a serious lifesaver.

Now that Spring is here (well at least trying to get here), it's time to add in a little color to my rather neutral wardrobe. My favorite way to do that is by throwing on a colorful cardi. J. Crew Factory makes my favorite. Buy one in every color. #allthecolors

Next month I'm starting my first trial with ClassPass. Unlimited workout classes for an entire month, for $99?! Yes please!! Sign up and get $25 toward your membership!

If you didn't already know, Kate Spade Saturday is going out of business. Sad, I know. Take advantage of their 50% off everything sale. So many great finds like this top.

Sad that you didn't get your chance to fight for Chris Soules love on the Bachelor?! No worries. Arlington, Iowa has plenty of other eligible bachelors. #yourewelcome

This will be the next addition to my closet. Perfect for spring.

As if I didn't love Diet Coke enough, this definitely sent my infatuation over the edge. #CokeForTheWin

I've always wanted to drive across country, taking in all the sights of the US of A. The best way to do it? This guy figured it out.

I suppose it's that time to put away the hunter green nail polish and get with the spring program. I've been wearing this color on repeat lately.

Don't forget to signup for your first FREE month of Rocksbox. Use code primpandproperxoxo to get your first month of membership fo freeeeeee!!!

Finally -- here are some of my gorgeous friends at last year's Taste of the South Charity Gala...

Navy On Navy + Crazy&Co. Giveaway

I shared with y'all a few weeks back about a local business that featured one-of-a-kind pieces, perfect for spring. Well my friends, spring is upon us. So it's time to stock up on said items. To help you do so, I've teamed up with Crazy&Co. once again to giveaway a $30 gift card to one lucky Primp & Proper reader. All you have to do is enter through the Rafflecopter below.

Here's a peek at what you can spend your gift card on. Maybe even get the scarf that I'm wearing in today's post! I'm loving the bright colors and tassel details for spring. This outfit of the day is perfect for running errands on the weekend, a casual Friday at the office or even for traveling. I love how I can take the blazer off if I get too hot, and at the same time it helps dress up a rather causal outfit. Wearing navy on navy? Separate the two with an extra long tuxedo button down. Gives you a little peek of white to break up the navy jacket and dark denim. A classic, yet chic look.

Tell me, how would you pair my Crazy&Co. scarf? Let me know in the comments below for extra entries.

Over the Weekend, Travel and Adventure Show

Over the Weekend I attended the Travel and Adventure Show with my roommate and friend/blogger, Katie. The show was the perfect Sunday afternoon activity. We visited booths that offered both domestic and international travel options. Everything from European getaways, to a short drive up the coast to Delaware.

After touring the exhibit floor, the three of us headed to the Travel Theater to hear one of my childhood favorites speak. Growing up, I LOVED the Travel Channel! Something about seeking my sense of adventure and traveling further than the Appalachian Mountains. One of my favorite Travel Channel hosts is Samantha Brown. Everything from Great Hotels, to Passport to Europe. I watched her religiously!!

Samantha Brown shared some great tips on traveling, as well as explained how the development of technology and expansion of the Internet has affected traveling. She gave some really great insight, and I thought it'd be awesome to share a few points with y'all:

  1. The biggest change in travel has been the decline in use of Travel Agents and travel books, and the incline of relying on the Internet, online reviews, blogs and websites.
  2. Samantha says we should still use Travel Agents. If anything, they take the stress of having to plan an entire trip off our shoulders. Travel Agents also are our go-to's if anything goes wrong. They know how to help!
  3. Go where the locals go! Stop visiting just the "touristy spots." When you're at lunch, ask the locals where they love to visit and dine. Odds are, you'll get an even better experience than the one you planned off online reviews.
  4. Some of Samantha's favorite smart phone apps are Pocket Earth, Google Translate, Travel Channel App and FlightAware. She also loves sites like Twitter, Airfare Watchdog to help get the best deals. Don't be afraid to reach out to businesses via Twitter for info and deals.
  5. Another great tip... create a separate email account for your vacation or travel. Sign up for various hotels, sites and airline emails so you can get notice on deals. Filter out the clutter and narrow your searches by separating your travel emails and information, from your personal and work emails.
  6. Her biggest tip? "Take the media out of it and just be social!" Sometimes asking locals where to go, meeting other tourists, and engaging with those around you, will offer a 10 times better trip than what social media tells you to do. Don't be afraid to ask!!

After visiting more than 100 travel booths and hearing Samantha Brown's tips, the only question now is, "Where should I travel?!"

Thursday's 10 Thoughts

This week has been crazy busy to say the least. I've been gearing up for a huge charity gala the end of the month, Taste of the South. It has almost become another full-time job. We're in the final crunch time now as far as fundraising goes, and the time has come for all the committee members to start receiving their swag shipments. At the gala, we giveaway products from our home state. So over the next few weeks my apartment is going to be filled with "made in Tennessee" creations. The first to arrive being eight giant and extremely heavy boxes of M&M's. Yes, they're made in Tennessee. Well, one of the largest Mars Candy factories is located in my home state!!

This is only the beginning, and by far not the last shipment I'll receive. With that said, if I seem to be blogging less over the next two weeks or taking longer to respond to social media, this is why. I cannot wait to share more photos and behind the scenes with you all regarding Taste of the South, so make sure you're following me on Instagram. There will also be a full event recap on the blog in April.

Other than trying to keep my head above water this week, here are a few more thoughts I've had...

Since Mother Nature is keen on the winter weather sticking around for awhile, I've decided that it's time to kick my beauty routine in high gear. I mean, taking care of my skin through these harsh winter months. My good friend Meaghan offered up some wonderful tips for hydrating your skin and which products have worked best for her.

Many of you have asked how I keep my golden locks intact during the harsh winter winds. It's all thanks to this gem of a hairspray. I swear by it. Summer or winter, it's perfect all year round.

Speaking of hair, wouldn't it be awesome if we could just pay someone to do it for us everyday? Perfectly curled, styled and clean... all for $99? Well, this is about to be a thing.

For those days I'm having a bad hair day, I have recently discovered that I don't look so bad in hats. I'm loving this one and thinking of adding it to my hat collection (making that a total of one so far, ha).

I'm getting ready to start working out again. Who, me? Yes, me. My friend Alissa is putting together a workout routine for me right now. In the meantime, I need to stock up on my workout gear. Like these pants, this top and this jacket. I also want to checkout Fabletics. They have some great stuff too.

Wish we could all (ladies) find a man who would do this for us.

If not, then I suppose we can start paying for more Tinder likes. Sorry 30 and overs, you'll be paying a premium.

If you're lucky enough to escape the winter weather and head somewhere warmer for Spring Break, make sure you pick up the perfect swimsuit. Like this one, this one, even this one or this one.

If you know me, then you probably know I'm obsessed with office supplies. This BuzzFeed was definitely made for me. I also cannot wait till this is a thing.

TGIF tomorrow friends!!
