Over the Weekend, A Day At the Zoo

Over the Weekend I had two special visitors, my brother Zack and his girlfriend Janie. Since school is out and it's officially summer break for them, they are enjoying a few weekends away from home. Their first stop for June was visiting me, and exploring the nation's capital. Janie has never been to DC, but my brother has been here quite a few times. They of course did all of the touristy things, but saved their biggest "must see" for Sunday, the Smithsonian National Zoo. I had never been, nor had my friend Liz. So the four of us, along with Zach (yes there are two Zack(h)s, lol), headed off for a fun day at the National Zoo. The zoo itself is absolutely gorgeous and very well done. While we enjoyed exploring all the different exhibits, we must have hit things at the absolute worst time. A majority of the animals were either not at the zoo or in hiding, away from the heat and sun. While we missed seeing the giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, gorilla's and monkeys, we did get to see the highlight of the zoo, baby panda Bao Bao. Overall it was a fun afternoon. I even got to break in this beauty and take lots of photos on my favorite Canon Rebel. It was a wonderful visit with my brother and Janie, a great trip to the zoo (and it was free, so that was even better) and overall fun filled weekend. Checkout some more photos from our day at the zoo, over the weekend.
